Do you feel like you are rushing around to get things done all the time? Do you get the feeling that you have taken on more than you can chew sometimes?
We do often have the tendency to overload ourselves – family, work, self-interests, social life, community groups, etc… We often do so much that we stretch ourselves thin. I say, unload! Regularly review the responsibilities and commitments you have taken on. Release some of it where you can.
Obviously there are some responsibilities you can’t completely shed and you don’t want to either (you can’t stop being a son/daughter, parent or a spouse for example). But within each role that you have, can you find ways to reduce the burden by getting others to help you out or share the work? It’s OK to ask for help. You don’t have to do it ALL! And you don’t have to be perfect all the time. It’s OK, slip ups happen, things don’t always go the way you want. Important thing is, you tried and you will keep trying.
Take time to re-charge yourself, connect with people or just take time to be by yourself. Do your favourite things every now and then. Life is for living and not for rushing around from day to day at breakneck speed.
Whenever I feel life is going too fast, I tell myself to slow down and take a breather. I re-evaluate and examine what are the real priorities and where most of my energy needs to go into. There are some aspects of life we can’t control and there are others that are not so critical – we don’t have to sweat over it too much. It is what it is. Just breathe and move along. It all we can really do sometimes.
